Dear St. Willibrord parishioners,
It is exciting how quickly we are growing—praise God! Sunday attendance is now regularly around 200 people, our sacramental preparation programs for both youth and adults have reached record numbers, and we recently completed our sixth Alpha series where there were over 30 first-time participants.
Adding to this excitement, we’re launching a wonderful year-long project this summer: four priests of the Companions of the Cross who will be living in our parish residence. One of them, Fr. Kevin Darwent, will be serving as full-time assistant pastor with the purpose of learning how to do “church planting” in a Catholic context.
Just as parishioners came to St. Willibrord in 2022 to help revitalize our community, we’re gearing up to launch another team—a priest and ministry leaders—to bring renewal to another parish. This will be a sign that not only is St. Willibrord growing, but truly multiplying as we see in the early Church. A phrase that sums up what we do here is “disciples make disciples”. We’re committed to discipleship with the goal of multiplying leaders beyond our church walls.
Last Fall, I said that our goal as a parish is to have our community invest financially in our mission to ensure we are able to cover the monthly expenses. We’re not there yet, but through the generous support of a few foundations, St. Ignatius of Loyola parish and other external donors, we’ve been able to gently stay afloat. Fr. Kevin’s salary will be generously covered by a charitable foundation that believes in our vision.
But I want to ask you—do you believe in our vision too?
If yes, thank you! Please continue to pray for growth and support generously with your valuable time, talent and treasure.
If not, please tell me why not! I’d love to hear your thoughts. It’s important that we can all speak clearly about who we are, what we do, and why it matters—we are all vision carriers at St. Willibrord.
I invite you to consider signing up for regular online donations so that we can wisely plan and budget for the rest of 2025. If you’re already giving regularly, thank you—and please prayerfully consider increasing your gift according to your means. As our financial report shows, we are still struggling with a shortfall and have to find a quick solution.
With heartfelt gratitude, please be assured of my prayers for you and your loved ones.
Sincerely, Fr. Garrick Huang
