Dear Parishioners and all friends of Fr. Robert,

We’d like to take this opportunity to share with you some troubling news regarding Fr. Robert’s health. Following numerous medical appointments, this past week Fr. Robert received a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, which has also spread to his liver. Currently he is receiving doctors’ directions on the best course of action towards an effective treatment and recovery plan.

In terms of offering support, Fr. Robert has asked that we first and foremost pray for him and his family. He has also asked that we continue to champion his vision for our parish to evangelize the community of Verdun, and beyond. The complexion of our mission may have changed, but our mission remains the same.

Please know that Fr. Robert is passionately committed to his pastoral duties at St. Thomas More and St. Willibrord, as well as to the Missionary Partnership with St. Ignatius. As much as he hopes to remain as engaged as he possibly can, the teams at St. Thomas More and St. Willibrord are actively preparing contingency plans for his medical absence. As such, your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated as we make arrangements in real time, and in full reliance on the Holy Spirit.

As Fr. Robert and his family adjust to his treatment and recovery plan, respect for their privacy during this time is much appreciated. We kindly request that all questions or concerns be directed to the rectory office (office@stwill.ca).

Be assured that we will be providing communication updates moving forward and Sunday Mass will continue to be at 10:30am.
