Explosively Alive! (Part 2)

November 13, 2025

A dynamite technician once told Fr. Garrick how calm and steady he must be when working with explosives. Real power doesn’t panic. Real power builds. And that’s exactly what we see in today’s Gospel when Jesus cleanses the temple. His zeal isn’t anger for its own sake—it’s love. It’s the fire that removes anything blocking our relationship with the Father.

The truth is: we are God’s temple. The church building simply reminds us of the deeper reality that God wants to dwell in us. But like any temple, we accumulate clutter—habits, distractions, resentments, noise. They take up “heart space” and become obstacles to grace.

The good news? God’s power doesn’t bulldoze us. It cooperates with us. It waits for our invitation. And one of the most concrete ways we open that door is through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Confession isn’t about shame; it’s about making room. It’s the moment God clears out what doesn’t belong and fills us with His life.

When we let God cleanse the temple of our hearts, we discover peace, joy, and a freedom that almost feels like we’re floating. We become explosively alive.

So this week, take a look inside. What needs clearing out? What has taken up too much space for too long? Invite God’s power in, and let Him build something beautiful in you.
