Fr. Robert Health Update – March 7

It is with much sadness that we wish to share with you the latest update on Fr. Robert’s prognosis.

His recent biopsy revealed two forms of cancer in his pancreas, one of which is very aggressive. Yesterday he began the first of six rounds of chemotherapy, which he will continue to undergo over the next few months. What further complicates Fr. Robert’s prognosis are the tumours that have spread to his liver, which eventually will stop functioning. Given these troubling results, Fr. Robert’s outlook is likely to be one of months versus years.

Since falling ill, Fr. Robert has been unwavering in his clear directive that the missionary partnership we have started with him must continue to be our priority in the weeks, months and years to come. Deeply grateful to all of the parishioners of St. Willibrord, St. Thomas More and St. Ignatius for their prayers and support, Fr. Robert expressed his utmost confidence in all the parishioners who have and continue to come forward to transform Verdun through our mission.

In terms of support, Fr. Robert has requested that we continue to pray for him, his wife Nancy, their six children, and his mother. If you are able, please join one or all of these events this week:

Wednesday March 9th @ 7:30 pm
Fr. Robert’s Wednesday Online Rosary Group

Thursday March 10th @ 7:30 pm

Our Sunday 10:30am Mass will continue each week. Please contact the rectory office if you have any questions 514-769-9678 or office@stwill.ca for any messages to be given to Fr. Robert.
